nati-pic I’m a traditional illustrator based in Italy where I lived for most of my life. Starting at my earliest memories, I have always had a passion for drawing and fantasy subjects. I remember that when I was a child I spent hours drawing characters from tales I made up for my friends or my sister. Literally, I was a girl with a lively imagination: the idea of taking a blank piece of paper and knowing that anything is possible: drawing pirates, princesses and valorous knights from lost realms, strange creatures and never told before stories, well…it was and it is amazing to me!
My style is a sort of collage of subjects I studied, places I visited, paintings I like, novels and comic books I read, all those things that I liked and I like without any particular connexion to art, sometimes. That said, Art Nouveau, 16th century Italian painting, European graphic novels, and Japanese manga are probably my main sources of inspiration.
I work part time as commissioned freelance artist from late 2002 when I began accepting art assignments, and when I’ve started posting my artwork on online art communities and running my personal website nati-art.com. I use predominately markers with a painting style that often utilizes mixed techniques like watercolor, coloured pencils and soft pastels.
My art has appeared in various art books, the most notable being “The Art of Faery” and “The World of Faery” from Paper Tiger Publications and ‘Gothic Art Now’ from Collins Design as well as several online publications and printed magazines. Recently, I have had my own ’solo’ art-book published in France from ‘Le Calepin Jaune Editions’.
This is my personal blog, where you can read about my latest art activities and projects, view sketches and WIP and you can also leave comments on my work.
