Merry Christmas, again!
So, I’m on holiday and of course I have starting thinking of how to conquer the world ^___________^
Actually, today I need your help so, here I’m to trouble you with my silly questions! As many of you know, I published my first book of illustration almost a year ago. It was a Limited Edition Print, sold in just few weeks. Many of you couldn’t actually get a copy of it and by popular request I think to publish another book of illustrations within the end of 2010 – hopefully before next Summer. I think of self-publishing it and I’m looking for good advices, trips, suggestions from fellow artists who already have tried to print their own art-books by using online services as the ones available on Lulu.com, for example. My main trouble is finding a good print service, obviously not so expensive!
Ok, you have all the Christmas holidays to think about that and give me advices ^_^
Thank you!
hello Nati, actually I tried for a personal print Lulu a couple of year ago and the result was disappointing! I heard good things about blurb (http://www.blurb.com/) … my friend bought a illustration book there and he was happy about it.
:) I would love to buy your book so I'm really concerned!
Happy holidays and a great year to you.
Thank you!
I've heard different opinions about lulu printing quality, some of them are quite negative. Blurb.com seems to be a very good online printer, maybe I should try it.
Happy Holidays, Francesca!
Hello Nati!
I wouldn't go with Lulu, I've tried them and the quality hasn't been bad, but I think to artbook would be too expensive – it was near 20€ for a 24 color pages softcover for me…
For other services, I can't tell, since I haven't tried them (yet! XD)
Happy holidays, btw, and good luck with this! <3
http://delicious.com/ophy/print-on-demand
Quello stampato in america era fatto bene, quello stampato in spagna male.

The matter with Lulu is they use different printers located in different countries. And the quality of printing might vary a lot depending on which printer finally make your book. And yes, prices are not so cheap ^_^
Happy Holidays to you too and thank you for your comment!
Hello Nati!
I am also looking for a place to create an artbook! A friend advised me to use photobox.co.uk.
I would like to use everbest.. but I cannot understand, from their site, how to get a quote etc… It doesn't seem to have any templates. etc…
Happy New Year, Lisa!
So, that's the problem with everbest. They don't have templates! You can download easy-to-use templates from sites like Blurb, Lulu and mypublisher, not from them. Another good printer is Innotech Communications – they printed the zemotion's art-book – but I guess they don't have pre-made layouts too. And you should contact them personally to know about prices, etc, etc. I think probably they're a little bit less expensive than Lulu or Blurb, but if you should create all the templates by yourself well, no wonder why they cost less than others ^_^
So, are you thinking to make your own art-book? That would be great, I surely buy a copy of it!!!
